New Moon (also called a Dark Moon): The first lunar phase. The moon is not visible in the night sky. An ideal time for divination and banishment magic.
Waxing Crescent:The second lunar phase. The right side of the moon is an illuminated crescent (the crescent appears on the left side in the southern hemisphere). An ideal time for setting intentions, beginning a new project, or spells related to self-improvement.
1st Quarter: The third lunar phase. The moon appears half illuminated in the night sky. (In the northern hemisphere, the right side is illuminated. In the southern hemisphere, the left side is illuminated). An ideal time for manifesting and performing spells meant to attract money, love, friendships or opportunities.
Waxing Gibbous: The fourth lunar phase. Most of the moon is illuminated, except for a small black crescent on the left side (reversed in the southern hemisphere). The ideal time to continue work on manifesting you have already started.
Full Moon: The fifth lunar phase. The entire moon is illuminated in the night sky. This is the most powerful time of the lunar cycle. This is the time to do big, important spells that you will need a powerful force behind.
Waning Gibbous: The sixth lunar phase. Most of the moon is illuminated, except for a small black crescent on the right side (reversed in the southern hemisphere). The ideal time for spells and rituals related to cleansing, protection, and banishment.
Waning Crescent: The eighth and final lunar phase. A crescent is illuminated on the left side (reversed in the southern hemisphere). An ideal time for clearing negativity or spells that call for closure or endings.
